Our Commitment to Youth Safety
It’s a big world, and the reality is that young people are exposed to risk everywhere; online, in public spaces, with peers, and even at school. While no environment is entirely risk-free, research and experience consistently show that the strongest protective factor in a young person’s life is the family.
Knights of Valor Academy is intentionally designed to support families, not replace them. Every phase of the program places youth safety, transparency, and parental involvement at the center of decision-making. Before public launch, the curriculum and mentoring structure move through clearly defined phases to ensure accountability, clarity, and appropriate boundaries for the parents to approve.
Phase 1: Curriculum Test Phase
Before mentors are introduced, the curriculum itself must be tested for clarity, flow, and impact.
During this phase:
The curriculum creator is the only point of contact with the family, and communication happens by email.
No in-person mentoring takes place.
Students work through a limited number of ranks to evaluate structure, pacing, and outcomes.
Sessions take place at home; any “field trips” listed in the curriculum are optional suggestions only, not requirements.
This phase lasts approximately two months and exists solely to ensure the curriculum functions as intended before broader use.
Phase 2: Mentor Test Phase
Once the curriculum has been validated, mentors begin using it under close oversight.
During this phase:
Mentors use the curriculum while providing feedback on clarity, flow, and usability.
The curriculum creator remains in direct contact with the mentor before and after every session.
Parents must be home during sessions and are strongly encouraged to remain in the same room.
At no point is a mentor and student permitted to be alone together.
This phase also lasts approximately two months and is designed to refine mentor usage while maintaining strict safety boundaries.
Phase 3: Program Launch
After both testing phases are complete, Knights of Valor Academy begins public implementation with the following safeguards in place:
Mentors submit a formal application.
Mentors complete a background check.
Mentors receive training, including clear guidance on appropriate and inappropriate conduct.
Parents review and approve a short list of eligible mentors.
The student selects a mentor from the parent-approved list.
Mentors serve as independent contractors, not employees of Knights of Valor Academy.
Because mentors operate as independent contractors:
Any illegal or abusive behavior is the sole legal responsibility of the mentor- their action goes against our standards.
Parents are required to pursue legal action against the mentor.
Knights of Valor Academy will also cooperate fully with law enforcement and pursue appropriate action if misconduct occurs.
Mentors are not babysitters, counselors, or substitutes for parents. They function as guides using a structured curriculum, always within clear boundaries and with family oversight.
As you can see, We have built in safeguards in place and want your youth, the mentor, and your family, to become the best version of themselves they can be. for any follow up questions, please email Join@TheKnightsOfValor.Com
